Letter from a cricket fan

Dear Mr. Chappell

I am one of the billion cricket fans in India for whom cricket is not just a game. Its a religion, that binds us all in same thread. Its our reason to smile amongst all the inadequacies in life. We consider our players just more then normal human beings. That’s why we (over reacted) when we found some hint of breach of trust (Match Fixing). We expect them to conquer the world with their willows and leather in their hands.

But today we are not happy sir. We were not happy when we lost badly to a team that was considered just better then the lowest ranking team in ODIs. And as they put in their words "Your barbs still inspire them to give their best against us". They beat us in their home (Caribbean), they beat us at neutral venue (Malaysia) and finally they have made us lick soil at our home. How do you feel Mr. Chappell? I don’t know about you but i feel ashamed. I feel like my self-respect has been humbled by some Foreign Elements. For god sake find something to inspire your own men instead serving other teams with your gestures.

Yesterday when i saw my team going down without effort to Aussies, i felt like kicking my TV for no fault of his. Where are we going Mr. Chappell? How are your experiments going? I don’t see any results.

I missed my dada (Sourav Ganguly) yesterday. Whatever you call his style, i admire him for his vigor, his passion for game. I felt proud when he doffed his shirt at Lord's. He gave me a reason to feel victorious. He may not have performed with bat for a while but his presence is good enough to inspire. I am ready to go with 10 men on field (considering him as non existing with Bat) but i know he will shout at boys asking them to get him wickets or perform with bat. I know he will somehow manage to win. I want that victorious attitude to return. I want MY dada back Mr. Chappell.

What motivates our cricketers nowadays? I dwelt on few options:

1. Offer them hefty advertisement contracts in case they win (they get even if they lose all the time)

2. Promise them luxury bungalows at posh locations (may wok but they already get them even if they lose)

3. Huge contract fees (It is already too much)

4. Feeling to serve nation ( they are no army men to be expected so)

I concluded that all this is of no use and they don’t have anything to gain even if they win because they already get everything even if they lose so why put in extra effort for nothing. I don’t see any economic sense in that.

In the end I just want to say that I missed Dada very much yesterday.

A cricket Fan :(

@ Hyderabad

Last week was an exhaustive one as i attended Leadership Training at Hyderabad. Stayed at Novotel Hyderabad. Nice place with all the superb facilities you ever need and may want.

Had opportunity to meet lots of people from various businesses. It was real fun while trying to learn some basic skills. I guess it was all common sense but as they say it is getting uncommon.

But anyway it was great experience and made some friends!

Murphy's Law

Hope everybody knows about Murphy's Law. For those who don't know: "If something can go wrong it will go wrong"

Various forms of this law are applicable to our daily life.

Variation Law: If you change queues, the one you have left will start to move faster than the one you are in now.
Law of the Telephone: When you dial a wrong number, you never get an engaged one.
Law of Mechanical Repair: After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch.
Law of the Workshop: Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.
Law of the Alibi: If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the Next morning you will have a flat tire.
Bath THEOREM: When the body is immersed in water, the telephone rings.
LAW OF CLOSE ENCOUNTERS: The probability of meeting someone you know increaseswhen you are with someone you don’t want to be seen with.
LAW of the RESULT: When you try to prove to someone that a machine won’t work, it will.
LAW OF BIOMECHANICS: The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.
THEATRE RULE: People with the seats at the furthest from the aisle arrive last.
LAW OF COFFEE: As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

Saturday@office

"No" was her first reply

"I will decide" She said with little indifference

"I will tell you later" she said next time,

"Don't repeat" She said and went in to silent mode

The Result: I am in office on Saturday which is supposed to be leisure time.

Men Not Allowed

Its time of the year in Gujarat when you see Garba flare all around. You see big banners announcing an Garba event and you may find it written in bold letter " Male participants need entry passes ". This strikes my limited ability to understand and interpret such notions. I interpret it in terms of gender bias. Whats the logic behind asking entry fee based on gender.

Are we assuming that free entry for female species of human beings will attract them in huge numbers and male species will follow them to the event resulting in huge gains for organisers. Hell with that notion..!!

Amid all the so called "voices" for gender equality and equal opportunity, where does this concept fits in? I don't think this biased behaviour is prompted by inability of "Female participants" to pay. Mind you fairer sex has better buying power and decision making authority then the other class of human beings.

This strategy is not limited to such events, go to Goa and specifically to calingut beach. You find a inviting nightclub on the beach. Here males are addressed as "Stags". Same strategy is practiced here as well. Stags need to pay 600 INR to enter the place whereas females have the privilege to walk in and out at will. Bouncers will stare at you like you have perpetuated a crime by thinking of attending the club alone. I was able to pass through the hurdles and that is a different story all together.

Why do we have such double standards in dealing with such issues, knowingly or unknowingly we promote gender bias and then blame the whole world for it.

Grow up guys and give every one chance to live as one dies...without having to pay extra for the crime of being born male.

Happy Teachers Day

Hey everybody

Just wanted to wish all the teachers out there a very Happy Teachers Day. As i am writing a thought echoes in my mind, "What is the significance of this day in our life"? or it is just another way of naming day for the sake of it?.

Once i was asked during a interview "Who is your favourite teacher?" and i said "my parents" without waiting for a single moment. The answer was well justified and i was selected. But the fact is that i don't even remember any of my teachers with much fondness, may be at school level or college level or PG level. It doesn't mean to demean the contribution of all the people at different level of education in my life but i simply mean that there was no a single character whom i can look up to as idol.

It leads to another interesting aspect of our life, Do we have sufficient number of True Teachers in India?. Given the population of more then one billion, we should have a good number but may be i was not fortunate enough to get the opportunity to find one.

Finally just a thought that i read somewhere that

"Time is the best teacher but unfortunately it kills all its students"

Movie Time

A very friendly advice...do see "Lago Raho Munnabhai" as soon as possible and you will come back thanking me for the wonderful time you will have.

A true example of how a genuine effort can deliver a sincere message effectively . After a long time a hindi movie has come which is original and is enjoyale at the same time. You come out being a better person.

Comedy at its best. during some scenes you find the corners of your eyes wet and that too in a comedy movie. Thats what one calls magic of director's capability reflected through the effortless acting by great performers.

Great songs mix well with the movie and you enjoy every second of it. Slim editing helps the keep one grossly engaged durign the entire length of movie.

Best scenes come through our very own "Circuit" and the chemistry between his master munnabhai. Vidya balan looks beautiful ...she really is!!

Go and see the movie plz...i am planning to get another ticket for me..

Enjoy

Things We Know..!!

Have a look at this link and read on...
Ohh...Humm!!
So we see that even kareena kapoor gets "Smita Patil" award for her OUTSTANDING contribution to hindi cinema. Don't know hat that means but only thing i could think of when i read this feature was that ...
"There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unkowns. That is to say, there are things we know we don't know. But, there are also unknown unknowns. These are things we don't know we don't know. " -Donald Rumsfield
This is life....!!
Enjoy

Life with Girlfriend

Hey all

in one of my earlier post we discussed life without girlfriend. I thought over it again and again and finally discovered something different ideology.

1. You cant stare at anyother girl bcos u don't need to..( wise ppl understand it)

2. You don't spend money on her you invest money in her..(thank god i went to mgmt school to learn all this)

3. You may get boring results in ur board papers/ performance appraisals and you always have a shoulder to lean upon..:)

4. With her you need to bear emotional blackmailing anyway what is life without a pinch of emotions

5. No need to care about her dumping you, you can always have another better prospect. Keep exploring ..!

6. A mix of hot and cold (with and without respectively)may make your life cocktail...That's really 'hot n cool'

7. Never have wait for her phone call, try new ideas to talk to her

8. Someone else can decide 'right' and 'wrong' for you so you don't have to waste time on petty things

9. If girlfriend gets possessive it means she really loves you and that is pretty rare in this cruel world so you can feel lucky

10. You can ask her to buy gifts for your mom and dad and she will be happy to do that (ideally she should )

11. No need to waste paper to write love letter..grow up guys and just use IM or Gtalk instead

12. You have less friends so you can effectively utilize your limited (24 hrs) time

13. You don't have to see boring love stories, instead you can see her (not a bad idea after all)

14. You wont have anybody else to tell lies to, you can say it all to her only and she will always forgive you and finally u still go to heaven to be with beautiful angels there

15. You will feel proud to have a special friend and enjoy envy of major chunk of population

16. You can have good night dream, she being there with you ..pretty romantic..Isn't it?

17. Sometimes you love her nonstop nonsense

18. You better try to drown in her pool of tears, atleast you get to learn swimming..hahaha

19. No tension of not having girlfriend

20. you can be urself with her

21. You don't have to make cold call to search for a girlfriend so infact you save money..(makes economic sense..!!)

So go and try to find one...!!!

Gud Luck

The FountainHead

This is the title of the book i m presently reading. i am such an otiose creature to say sthg abt this classic but even then i felt like writing abt the few pages i have gone through.

Such an engrossing book right from the first page where our protagonist thinks over. I personally like the character of Howard Roark who follows himself and not what other tell him to do and what traditions have been. But is it really possible, i mean practical or realistic existence of such character.

Take our own lives for example, our careers are more or less forced upon us. Something that our parents want us to be or result of peer pressure or sthg else. How many of us can actually boast of careers that they love? Exceptions apart, count will be very few.
Will definitely talk about the book more when i am done with it.

Movie Time

Sunday evening was as usual movie time and on this occassion it was " The FASt and the Furious: Tokyo Drift".

Zooming machines, hot girls, some action, thrill and thats about this movie. But there are moments when you experience the thrill of speed and it works. Nice watchable movie. Light dialogues gell with the script and tight editing.

Best line i liked was when Han says "Life's simple, you make choices and you don't look back".

Also loved beautiful lady "Nathalie Kelley" . Man....!! She has got a killer smile. watch her!

Lucas black is not bad as Shwan. You can feel his passion for cars. Probably in i wont ever see such cars so can just enjoy them in movies as of now. That is some solace but also adds to the aspiration/ desperation to get to see such life. Plz god just once in my life i want to live like that. Just like following conversation between the leading pair of the movie.

Shawn Boswell: The day I got my license is the day I got my first speeding ticket. Day after that I won my first race, I beat this rich kid by three lengths. I got to admit it felt good. It felt like
Neela: Like everything else just disappears
Shawn Boswell: No past and no future
Neela: No problems just the moment

Just give me a chance god.!!!

Living Alone: Life without Girlfriend

This must be of interest for LA community. Received it in my mailbox and sharing it with all bcos it is beautiful expression of feelings strengthning the assumptions behind formation of LA community.

How is Life without Girlfriend!

1. You can stare at any Girl.......

2. You don't have to spend money on her.

3. You won't get boring result in ur board papers/ performance appraisals.

4. No girlfriend, no emotional blackmailing.

5. If u don't have a girlfriend, she can't dump u.

6. Having a girlfriend is hot, not having a girlfriend is automatically cool, and every one loves to be a cool guy.

7. This can be more to life than just waiting for the bloody phone to ring.

8. You won't have to tolerate someone else defining, "right" and "wrong" for u.

9. Girlfriend can get so possessive that you can't do anything according ur wishes anymore.

10. You can buy gifts for mom, dad, sis or grandpa instead of a girlfriend and have a happier family life.

11. You won't have to waste paper writing love letters. No more endless waiting for ur date to arrive at some weird shop place.

12. You can have more friends, as u will have more time for them.

13. You wont have to see boring love stories instead of sports.

14. You wont have to tell lie to anybody and, therefore, u'll sin less (finally going to heaven to see angels).

15. You can have good night's sleep-no need to dream about her.

16. You wont have to fight over having a 'special' friend with ur folks.

17. No nonstop nonsense (typical girlish crap).

18. You wont have drown in the pool of her tears (a tool for Emotional Blackmailing).

19. No tension.

20. You can be "urself"

21. You wont have to hide your telephone bills (Makes economic sense as well)....

Cheers

Rare Outing : Part 1

Date: 20 August 2006

Place: Sardar Sarovar Dam. Popularly known as Narmada Dam famous for many things including court cases pending regarding the increase in height of dam, aamir khan's role and subsequent banning of his films in gujarat, medha patkar's struggle to get proper rehabilitation for people relocated and many more things.

I also got a chance to see the place myself, thanks to the visit organized my company. Begin a creature with unusual inclination towards wandering (sometimes I feel why I wasn't born a Siberian bird who travels to different part of globe depending on the season). Any way cant do anything about that now so I usually look for any opportunity that may satisfy my unfulfilled aspiration to wander.

Just for information, I wear spectacles ( as you don't see them in my pic). and they say that I look good in them. But for long I had a hidden desire to get rid of specs and do promotional shoot for Fastrack eye wear just like John Abraham ( no need to laugh, I know my limits).

So as the things stand today, second wish cant be realized but science & technology has given ample opportunity to people like me. We can wear contact lenses. But for me the case is little more complicated, I look good in everything I wear and even without wearing anything (don't assume anything wild, here I am referring to specs and goggles) and I have got a proof of my argument, count the number of girls who like me with specs and without them.

So finally I decided to wear lenses and goggles on the day of our visit to Narmada Dam. Again twist in the tail, the wilder side of my character kept on goading me to be my usual self. Give up formal wear and put on something that reflects your true character. So respecting my inner voice, I did just that and got a T and non matching denim jeans.

As I stepped on the bus, I could see the questioning eyes of my colleagues after seeing me in my new avatar(for them new). I could feel them saying that you looks such an idiot in that and without your specs you look a different creature. That's why people say that beauty lies in the eyes of beholder.

More about the trip in next post..

It happens more often in India!!

This picture was taken on 24 August, 2006 near supreme court of India when some medical students were protesting against the proposed unlawful, cast based reservation. What does this picture tells you?

For me it reminds that i am living in a country where my cast decides about my future. i may be a brilliant minded student but another person by the virtue of his so called reserved cast will be getting all the privileges. I have to fight for my right to live but my fellow indian will be given preference because he belongs to a particular cast.

Isnt it ridiculous? For me it is !!!

There should not be any hard feelings about the things this blog talks. They are just personal opinions on a particular subject matter under consideration.

What do you call the ruling people who doesnt even hesitate opening water cannons or firing tear gas shells on students protesting against the proposed breach of their fundamental right to play on a fair ground. No political party will say a single word against this "quota thing". Reason is that they will lose votes of that "Particular Community" and the ruling party sponsoring this bill will get all the votes.

This vote based politics is leading our beautiful country to a situation of worst despair, where your birth in a particular community is enough to gurantee a successful career.

I dont want to argue against the basic objective of reservation to some deserving classes but the point here is "who is deserving". A family whose last three generations are IAS, does that deserve reservation. A sane common sense should say NO. But our respected politicians will say YES.

Hell....!!!!

Makers of constitution introduced this reservation system for greater good of society but now it is merely a tool in the hands of few blood sucking paracites who survive on others lives and in the end give some ridiculous baseless arguments for their selfish deeds.

Day is not far when you will have reservation in sports, may be army, may be even some day you find few white clad people sponsoring a bill to make certain percentage marriages in one community with another community...after all it is for common good.!!!

Things get obnoxiously ugly when i see the front page of newspaper and find pictures of water cannon being used on students..

May god help me this country!!!

KANK

Hey guys

Have you seen KANK yet? if not then just an advice please prepare in advance to see this one. Remember that it is a four hour long typical melodramatic ride and you will feel losing some part of your life.

  • Take with you somethings to wipe your tears if you like KJ brand of movies.
  • Take a break after one hour else your backbone will fight with you later when u reach home.
  • You will also need something to eat atleast twice in between and
  • If you are gonna married in recent future then this one is highly unrecommended
  • Finally if you are a coffee addict then be prepared you are gonna see SRK sipping from starbucks cup all the time.

Watching movie alone is an experience in itself. You can concentrate more on the movie then your girlfriend sitting besides you (it is debateable as some like to look around more for better options when watching movie alone). Anyway back to the movie, i found it very different (dont want to use exact negative word as it may hurt the business of movie considering the number of viewers i have on my blog..:) hey stop laughing)

Movie has some good cinematography and i dont mean that is the only good thing about movie. It also has some very melkodious music ( one song resmebles one from sufi band, again its my observation). Junior B looks good and i found both the actresses laden with fair glow cosmetic products. I dont knwo may be its the trend now a days. SRk is decent and overall it was a long enriching expereince watching KANK. One thing i was looking for during entire four hours was the story and consistency and i found some hugh vallies (sorry just used in place of gaps) in the script.

I feel like i am older after watching the movie anyway happy viewing..!!

Right to Information Act

There are my personal views and i don't expect any expert comments about them!

The day when RTI act was passed i was pleasantly surprised. Reason is very simple "How can any sane politician give up its privilege to do anything and get away with it?". "How can any babu (government employee) give up its privilege to no to do anything and get away with it?"
RTI act, if at all used and allowed to be used, does the same. It will make politicians accountable for their deeds by being asked about virtually everything relevant and they have to do that. Just imagine that you can ask any babu, why your file didn't move? or why your task took too much time? Or simply imagine a politician giving information about a government contract being given in past.

I imagined all this and felt happy that finally we may be approaching true democracy. But alas..!!!

My happiness was short lived and my apprehensions were correct. No sane politician can allow this to happen. No sane babu will allow this happen. Finally they will do the same with RTI act what they did to "Office of Profit" bill. Mutilate it to suit their own requirements and still be under the garb of being alleging to the law.

Recent actions of this government has further strengthened my opinion that we are living in a pseudo-democracy, where u don't have any access to virtually anything.

Let this time government not do what it intends to !
Let for once be together and fight for a just cause !
Lets do something about it....We wont let our right been taken away by a few white clad humans..!!

Let the truth prevail.....
